Short on time but still craving big skies and water views? This mini loop delivers.
Total drive time is approximately 1 hour (54km) and we recommend allowing around 3 hours with stops.
Start: Water Tower Art Trail
Pick up brekky and a coffee in East Street before kicking things off with colour and creativity at the Water Tower Art Trail. A quick wander here sets the tone, with beautiful murals depicting our beautiful wildlife, history, and culture.
Stop 1: Grong Grong
We’d recommend aiming to arrive in Grong Grong around lunchtime for a feed at the Royal Hotel Grong Grong (AKA the Grongy Pub). Take a moment to stretch your legs at the Grong Grong Earth Park (definitely recommend pinching some delicious mulberries if they’re in season) or snap a selfie with the Grong Grong railway sign.
Stop 2: Five Mile Reserve
Cruise down Grong Grong River Road to Five Mile Reserve. Shady trees. Quiet Water. A gentle reset. Perfect to drop a line, have a dip, or enjoy a picnic by the picturesque Bundidgerry Creek.
Stop 3: Rocky Waterholes
Continue to Rocky Waterholes, a favourite for swimmers, paddleboarders, and kayakers. It’s calm, it’s scenic, and it feels worlds away – even though you’re only minutes from town. Walk across the bridge into the Flora and Fauna Reserve to spot koalas in the wild.
Stop 4: Narrandera Skywalk
Take in a beautiful view of Lake Talbot from the treetops at the Skywalk. From here, you can see all the way to Rocky Waterholes and across to the Flora and Fauna Reserve. Head down the steps to the shore for a swim in the lake or visit the Lake Talbot Water Park next door to zip down the waterslides.
Finish: Destination & Discovery Hub
Wrap up at the Narrandera Destination and Discovery Hub. Chat with the friendly team, browse local souvenirs, and plan your next adventure (because one scenic loop usually leads to another).
