Looking for things to do in the Riverina?

Narrandera Shire makes the perfect starting point for your Riverina adventure. With its central location, the towns of Narrandera, Barellan, and Grong Grong offer a blend of festivals, markets, sporting and outdoor adventures — giving travellers plenty of reasons to stop, stay, and explore more of the region.

Mark your calendar for the must-see highlights: celebrate a conservation success story at the annual Koala Festival, feel the roar of the engines at the Narrandera Rod Run, step back in time at the Good Old Days Festival in Barellan, and dive into the sights, sounds and flavours of the Narrandera Spring Fair. When the year turns, join the town for a sparkling New Year’s Eve celebration that lights up the sky.

Beyond the big festivals, Narrandera Shire is alive with local markets, community gatherings, and sporting events, including AFL, the Malibu Ski Tournament, and the Town2Beach run.

REA Horse Trials at Narrandera

to 9 Aug

REA Horse Trials at Narrandera

The REA Wagga Horse Trials event at Narrandera is an equestrian eventing competition which caters to over 250 horse and rider combinations each year.

This competition will see horse and rider combinations complete three phases: dressage, showjumping (SJ) and cross-country, with different levels of competition depending on the abilities of the horse and rider as a team. Eventing is one of the only  sports where you can expect to see an olympic rider match their skills against a local pony club member, and where females and males compete as equals.

The cross country course at Narrandera provides excellent spectator opportunities with a water jump, large bank complex, and the ability for spectators to visualise much of the cross country course (and usually see a few kangaroos as well). A full canteen will be available on both days, as well as a coffee cart and trade stands.

Contact details: REA Wagga Horse Trials committee at reawht@gmail.com (and see Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ReaWaggaHorseTrials)
