Free Camping in Narrandera: Best Spots for Caravans & Campers

Travelling through the Riverina with a van, swag or camper trailer? Narrandera and surrounds offer some of the best camping options around — from quiet riverside reserves and easy-access stops to national park and full-service caravan parks. Whether you’re road-tripping through or settling in for a few days, here’s where to stay:

Brewery Flat Reserve
Narrandera

Self-contained free camping in a beautiful riverside location. Brewery Flats is one of the Shire’s most popular free camping areas. Just minutes from Narrandera’s town centre, with easy access to walking trails, shops, and dining options.

Overnight stays of up to 72 hours are allowed, giving you plenty of time to make the most of the peaceful natural surroundings with picnic areas, barbecues and toilet facilities. Located just opposite the boat ramp, the campsite provides convenient access for water activities. The reserve also has designated parking for boats and trailers, thanks to the efforts of the local fishing club.

Grong Grong Park
Grong Grong

Quiet and convenient, Grong Grong Park is a relaxed spot for an overnight stay, perfect for travellers looking for a quiet break off the highway. The park boasts toilet facilities, barbecue, and even a small collection of books for your enjoyment.

Buckingbong Reserve
Gillenbah

BB’s Reserve and Boat Ramp is located a short 7-kilometre drive along Buckingbong Road from the Sturt Highway. With some of the most beautiful stretches of the Murrumbidgee River accessible via the boat ramp, BB’s Reserve is a local favourite.

The site is cared for by the Narrandera Fishing Club, so be sure to keep an eye out for any signage and follow their guidelines to help keep the space welcoming for everyone.

Camping in National Parks

If you’re happy to pay a small fee, the Murrumbidgee Valley National Park offers 17 camping spots to choose from. We recommend heading to the “Graham’s Grave” entrance, about 18 kilometres southeast of Yanco along the Irrigation Way. From there, it’s a scenic 2-kilometre drive to Graham’s Grave beach. Keep in mind that all roads within this area are unsealed and 4WD vehicles are recommended for wet conditions. Campervans and RVs are welcome, though not all campgrounds are suited for larger vehicles.

While the National Park doesn’t allow pets, the nearby Murrumbidgee Valley Regional Park is dog-friendly with beautiful river frontage and sandy beaches — perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. The Murrumbidgee Valley Regional Park is also part of the longest continuous tract of river red gum forest in the world.

Lucky travellers may even meet the world-record breaking Barellan Clydesdales who can sometimes be seen grazing at the Showgrounds.
