Lake Talbot
Narrandera NSW 2700
Once part of Bundidgerry Creek, a natural flood channel of the Murrumbidgee River, Lake Talbot now holds a special place in the heart of our region.
Back in 1924, during the early days of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, an unexpected breach in the canal’s northern bank flooded the surrounding plain. Instead of letting it go to waste, Town Clerk William Talbot saw an opportunity. He rallied the local council to keep the flooded area and transform it into what we now know as Lake Talbot.
