Berembed Weir
Matong NSW, 2652

Built in 1909-10 by the NSW Department of Public Works, Berembed Weir played a vital role in the development of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA).

The weir’s primary purpose was to divert water from the Murrumbidgee River into a main canal, which then supplied the MIA and surrounding areas with much-needed irrigation.
