MARCH ARTC Open Water Swim This is the only inland open water swim in Australia. A flat water course, you can register on the day starting at 10.30am. There are swims for all levels from a 2, 4 & 8 km. So get down to Lake Talbot and take part. Start time is 12noon. APRIL Easter Rod Run This family friendly hot rod rally attracts hundreds of cars from all of the eastern states. On Easter Saturday in Narrandera Park there will be the 'Show and Shine Carnival'. Australian Freeflight Championships & Southern Cross Cup The AFFS hosts the AFFS Championships once a year, over the Easter weekend, at a magnificent flying field (Widgiewa), situated near the Riverina town of Narrandera. This is the premier annual FF event in Australia, and includes the FAI classes (F1A, F1B, F1C, and the mini events F1H,G and J), vintage (rubber, power, and glider), open events (rubber and power), unique Australian events (Oz Diesel, Scramble), other events such as P30 rubber and of course, Free Flight scale. ANZAC Day The Memorial Gardens located on East Street host the annual ANZAC Day Services.
Koala Count (Annual) The Narrandera community has taken the Reserve and its inhabitants to heart. Local's and visitor's alike lend their eyes to the annual Koala Count. Supervised by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, the count involves groups of spotters spreading quietly throughout the reserve.
Once sighted a Koala's location is marked with a ribbon and sightings tallied at the end of the day. Volunteers are invited to join NSW Parks & Wildlife Officers to search for and count koalas in the Narrandera Koala Regeneration Reserve & surrounds. Contact: John Sullivan Ph (02) 6959 1795
Morundah (Toolbox) Ball Black tie event held in April that includes a two course buffet meal, music by “Party Boyz Rockin”, dancing, lucky door prizes and a heap of fun. Tables of 10 are preferred but not essential. Held in the “Paradise Palladium Theatre”, Browley Street, Morundah.
