FISHING Murray Cod, Yellowbelly, Redfin and some Silver Bream are taken in the Murrumbidgee River a short distance from Narrandera. The back area of Lake Talbot, the beaches on the Nature Reserve, the Yanco and Colombo Creeks, and the Yanco and Berembed Weirs are favoured fishing areas for local anglers. Good access to the River can also be had on the MIA Forest Drive, maps of which are available from the Narrandera Visitor Information Centre. A boat ramp is located in Narrandera township off Old Brewery Road (just east of the Murrumbidgee River Bridge on the Newell Highway). A boat ramp also exists at Lake Talbot, off Broad Street, on Boat Ramp Road adjacent to Lake Talbot Tourist Park. A fishing license is required to fish in NSW.
ECO-TOURS - FLORA AND FAUNA RESERVE Experience free ranging kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and an abundance of native birdlife as you traverse the picturesque Narrandera Flora and Fauna Reserve. The 1.5 hour guided walk provides an insight into the conservation status of the local river red gum forest, flood plain ecology and surrounding environment, whilst also providing spectacular views of Lake Talbot and the Murrumbidgee River where you may see the elusive and iconic Australian animal, the platypus. WALKING TRACK The Bundidgerry Walking Track follows a scenic route along Lake Talbot and the majestic Murrumbidgee River. A map of the track is available from the Visitor Information Centre in the Narrandera Park.
LAKE TALBOT SWIMMING POOL Take the plunge on the Rampage Slide for an exhilarating ride of speed or join the excitement of the 100m Water Slide at the Lake Talbot Pools. Three swimming pools, terraced lawns and shady trees together with coin operated BBQ's make an ideal water playground. There is also a kiosk on site. Open each day November to Easter except Christmas Day. The boat ramp is adjacent to the pools and part of the lake is a focal point for water skiers. Phone 02 6959 1211
NARRANDERA GOLF CLUB Narrandera golf course is built on rolling sand hills, the fairways are lined with pine trees that in some places almost too thick to walk through. The course is inside the top 10 country courses in NSW and the number one course in the Riverina. This is an excellent test of golf on a course with a great reputation for being in top condition all year long. Motorised carts available. Competition days are Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. JOHN LAKE FISHERIES CENTRE The John Lake Fisheries Centre is 6 km East of Narrandera. The Centre fulfils a number of roles such as breeding, conservation and environmental surveys, NSW rivers management, aquaculture and community education. It aims to raise public awareness of the state of native fish populations. There are interactive elements including live fish exhibits and information videos. Families can make most of a trip to the centre with a barbecue or picnic on the beautiful lawns and garden areas. The site also incorporates the ‘John Lake Centre’ a facility that acts as an invaluable tool for schools and the general public. Both native and introduced species are on display, including 'Agro', a large Murray cod. Four fishing workshops for children between the ages of 8 and 14 are held annually and cater for people from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds. The John Lake Centre is a modern educational facility that contains a theatrette and live fish exhibits, set adjacent to beautiful parkland and a small lake. Individual and group visitors are welcome.

KOALA SPOTTING Take a leisurely stroll and spot a Koala at the Narrandera Nature Reserve. A map of the area is included on the town map and in the information booklet available from the Narrandera Visitor Information Centre. Group bookings for Koala spotting can be arranged by phoning the Visitor Information Centre on 1800 672 392 where a tour guide will be arranged to look after you during your walk around this fantastic reserve!
